Black Sesame Mochi Ice Cream

With this homemade ice cream recipe, you can enjoy the unique taste of nutty black sesame and the chewy texture of mochi.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup black sesame seeds
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup sweet rice flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar

Instructions:

Toast black sesame seeds in a dry skillet until fragrant

Grind toasted sesame seeds and sugar in a food processor until finely ground

In a saucepan, combine heavy cream and milk

Heat until just simmering

In a separate bowl, mix sweet rice flour, sugar, and salt

Gradually whisk in water until smooth

Whisk rice flour mixture into the hot cream mixture

Cook until thickened

Remove from heat and stir in ground sesame mixture, vanilla extract, and almond extract

Let cool

Pour mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to manufacturers instructions

Transfer churned ice cream to a container and freeze until firm

Cut into squares and wrap each square with a piece of mochi

Dust with powdered sugar before serving
