Ingredients:
- 8 oz pappardelle pasta
- 1 lb Italian sausage, casings removed
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can 14
- 5 oz diced tomatoes
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Grated Parmesan cheese for serving
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish
Instructions:
Cook the pappardelle pasta according to package instructions until al dente
Drain and set aside
In a large skillet, cook the Italian sausage over medium heat, breaking it into crumbles with a spatula, until browned and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes
Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the sausage
Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the onion is softened and translucent
Stir in the diced tomatoes, chicken broth, heavy cream, and red pepper flakes
Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together
Season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste
Add the cooked pappardelle pasta to the skillet with the sauce, tossing gently to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce
Serve the pappardelle with Italian sausage hot, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves
