Ingredients:
- 4 cups fresh mulberries
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 lemon, juiced
- 1 tablespoon pectin optional
Instructions:
Wash the mulberries and remove any stems
In a large saucepan, combine the mulberries and sugar
Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the mulberries start to release their juices and the sugar is dissolved about 10 minutes
Add the lemon juice and pectin if using to the saucepan and continue cooking, stirring frequently, until the mixture thickens about 20-30 minutes
To test the jams consistency, place a small amount on a chilled plate and see if it sets
If it does, its ready
If not, continue cooking for a few more minutes
Once the jam is ready, remove it from heat and let it cool slightly
Pour the hot jam into sterilized jars and seal them immediately
Allow the jars to cool to room temperature before storing them in the refrigerator
Enjoy your homemade mulberry jam on toast, in yogurt, or as a topping for desserts
