Ingredients:
- 4 burger patties beef or your choice of meat
- 4 cedar planks, soaked in water for 1 hour
- 4 hamburger buns
- 1 cup smoky barbecue sauce
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- 1 red onion, thinly sliced
- 4 lettuce leaves
- 4 tomato slices
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Warm up the grill over medium-high heat, which is about 400F 200C
Some salt and pepper should be added to the burger patties
Close the grills lid and put the wet cedar planks on it
Put them in a hot place for three to four minutes, or until they begin to smoke
Put the seasoned burger patties right on top of the hot cedar planks, then cover the grill
Cook them for 5 to 6 minutes on each side, or until theyre done the way you like them
Brush the burgers with smoky barbecue sauce and put a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each one in the last minute of cooking
Put the lid back on to melt the cheese
Put the hamburger buns on the grill and toast them for one minute, or until they get a little brown
To put together the burgers, start with a lettuce leaf on the bottom bun
Then add the cedar-planked patty with melted cheese, a tomato slice, red onion, and more smoky barbecue sauce if you want
Place the other half of the bun on top and use a toothpick to hold it in place if necessary
Enjoy your Smoky Cedar-Planked Burgers while theyre still hot
